The details

  • Lee's art is digitally printed straight into the felt, so there's nothing sitting on top to scratch a record.
  • Tight-weave 3mm polyester felt with a smooth non-friction bottom layer.
  • Happy under a DJ's hands or just sitting there sounding good.
  • Cut a touch shorter than a 12 inch record so the mat never sticks to the vinyl when you swap sides.
  • Kind to the record: the felt cushions the record off the platter, grips it so it spins true, and keeps static down so dust stays out of the groove.

The story

It started with a trip to Seoul. Haekang Lee is one of the nicest guys in the city, and he proved it the best way possible: taking us around his old uni bars, his favourite fried chicken spots, and Sounds Good Store, one of the best record shops going. Somewhere between the chicken and the crates, this mat got planned.

The character has been there since Lee’s University days. Lee used to put him up near campus. We asked if he’d put him on a slipmat and he came back with this gem: eyes shut, guitar up, mid-song.
